Power Automate is Microsoft's automation platform for building ‘flows’: automated workflows between apps and services, without programming. i-Reserve plugs into it through a custom connector that you import in a few steps from the OpenAPI definition of your own i-Reserve environment.

The connection runs over a secure OAuth 2.0 link with a dedicated connection user. After that, the triggers and actions of i-Reserve are available as building blocks in Power Automate, and you combine them with all the Microsoft and external connectors the platform offers.

What can i-Reserve do through Power Automate?

The custom connector gives you the triggers and actions of i-Reserve as building blocks for your flows. For example, let a new booking automatically create a task in Teams, send a confirmation via Outlook, add a row in Excel or add a customer to your email marketing.

What is the integration between i-Reserve and Power Automate?

Power Automate (formerly Microsoft Flow) is Microsoft's automation platform. The integration connects i-Reserve to Microsoft 365 and thousands of other services through a custom connector, and lets you build ‘flows’ that move reservations, customers and orders automatically.

What is a custom connector and how do I set it up?

The custom connector is the bridge between i-Reserve and Power Automate. You import the ready-made API definition of your i-Reserve environment (the OpenAPI/Swagger) into Power Automate; in principle nothing needs to be changed. The steps are in the manual.

How does authentication work?

The integration uses OAuth 2.0. In i-Reserve you create an OAuth client and a dedicated connection user with the right permissions, and enter the Client ID, Client Secret and Refresh URL when setting up the connector in Power Automate.

Which Microsoft services does this work with?

With the entire Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and Excel, plus Dynamics. Through Power Automate you also reach thousands of external connectors, such as Mailchimp.

Do I need programming knowledge?

No. You build flows visually in Power Automate and use the triggers and actions of i-Reserve as ready-made building blocks. Setting up the connector is a one-off and follows the manual.

What is the difference with the Zapier integration?

Both are integration platforms that connect i-Reserve to other apps without custom development. Power Automate is the natural choice if you work within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem; Zapier excels at connecting to a very wide range of individual web apps.
